Job Purpose:  

L-Evated Chicago is a bold collaborative initiative created to unlock the potential of train stations and their surrounding areas to connect people and create equitable centers for climate resilience, health and culture. In partnership with national and local partners, L-Evated Chicago aims to turn the ½-mile around transit stations into community-focused centers of commerce and culture by removing barriers that hinder innovation; equipping residents with the resources to make these areas a community and civic priority; and aligning, cultivating, and deploying capital for development near the stations.


L-Evated Chicago seeks a full-time Program Associate who will report directly to the Program Director. The Program Associate will collaborate with various committee member organizations and other partners on strategic planning, implementation and administration. The successful candidate will be a creative and collaborative individual, able to operate with minimal day-to-day oversight, and committed to the core values of L-Evated Chicago: Adaptability, Impact, Inclusion, Innovation and Transparency. The Chicago Community Trust, the Chicago region’s community foundation, is the fiscal agent for L-Evated Chicago and will house the position.


The position is funded by local and national partners and housed at The Chicago Community Trust. Service is the heart of the Trust. The Trust believes that each employee represents the Trust’s commitment to service and plays an essential role to deliver on our mission to lead and inspire philanthropic efforts that measurably improve the quality of life and prosperity in our region.   


Job Duties: 


  • Lead and support project management and implementation of L-Evated Chicago’s strategies and work plan
  • Provide administrative support to Director and committees of L-Evated Chicago, including scheduling and coordinating meetings; preparing meeting agendas, minutes, and support materials, such as reports, fact-sheets and presentations; and plan and manage events
  • Support day-to-day management of L-Evated Chicago operations, including vendor contracts, expenses, budgeting, and recordkeeping
  • Lead and support grant making, grant management and grant-writing
  • Support the communications strategy of L-Evated Chicago, including events, Web-based communications and social media postings
  • Support the community engagement strategy of L-Evated Chicago, including assisting community-led strategy sessions, and planning community meetings and events
  • Cultivate and nurture mutually productive relationships with L-Evated Chicago members and strategic partners in the public, private and nonprofit sectors

Experience and Skills:

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in policy, planning public administration, community development, public health or related field required; Masters preferred
  • Must be service oriented and committed to providing exceptional service to Trust staff, L-Evated Chicago partners and external customers
  • 3 – 5 years of related work experience
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work independently
  • Excellent project and event management
  • Excellent written, oral and visual communication skills, with experience writing grants, articles, and reports, and preparing presentations
  • Proven ability to manage multiple relationships and work effectively in/with diverse teams, constituencies and coalitions, including community groups and city and regional leaders
  • Familiar with communities and neighborhoods in the Chicago region
  • Familiar with the interrelationship of racial equity, health, arts and culture, and climate resilience with experience in one or more of these subject areas
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and Publisher) with the ability to evaluate, implement and properly utilize web based and other technologies.
